I have a Sylvania Console stereo that is in good working condition. I believe it needs a new speaker. The model number on the back says SC8516W-1. I have not had any luck in finding a new speaker or possible a replacement that would work. Do you have any suggestions?

Why do you think that it needs a new speaker? Do the left and right speakers sound the same? Has the stereo been recapped? Was it serviced to have the original electrolytic capacitors replaced with modern ones? That is the most important thing to have the stereo last another 50 years.
Two possible indicators:
1. The speaker itself is working but sounds very off. Could be a torn speaker cone, which is repairable.
2. No sound coming from the speaker. If the stereo was not restored, there may be an electrolytic capacitor that is bad and blocking all signal to the speaker.
